General Information

Dear Colleague:

The V.G.Khlopin Radium Institute, St.Petersburg, Russia , The Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, Dubna, Russia and the Gesellschaft fur Schwerionenforschung mbH Darmstadt (GSI) are organizing the 3-nd Workshop of the CBM-MPD STS Consortium "Challenges of the CBM and MPD Silicon Tracking Systems - 2009" which will be held at Winters'Lodge Resort (www.taru.ru), Sortavala, Karelia, Russia on June 1 - 4, 2009.

The meeting is to continue a series of meetings (http://sunse.jinr.ru/projects/sts/meetings_sts.html) of specialists working together in a joint effort to develop novel ultra-thin detector systems for accurate particle track identification for the planned CBM experiment at FAIR, Darmstadt and NICA-MPD, JINR, Dubna. This Meeting will be the first joint event of the CBM MVD STS Workgroups.

This meeting will have a special session related to the ISTC funded activity in CBM STS. We also intend to invite experts from the ISTC for this session to share their experience of building very successful cooperation (ISTC-CERN Agreement for LHC) and thus mark the roadmap to the same cooperation of the ISTC and FAIR mega-project. Here reports with results from the first running ISTC project related to prototyping of the basic building block of the CBM STS will be presented as illustration of perspectives for building fruitful cooperation between ISTC and FAIR.

In case of questions or suggestions, please, do not hesitate to contact us for better organization of the Workshop.

Looking forward to your participating in the Workshop,
